A wolf in the house
A response to a screening of one film from distributed by Cinenova; Leila and the Wolves (Heiny Srour, UK/Lebanon, 1984) and a new work selected by Emma Hedditch and Melissa Castagnetto; The Package (Dara Greenwald & Ona Mirkinson, USA, 2010). This screening was part of Bodies Assembling organised by Cinenova and Auto Italia South East.

The Haircut Before The Party
On Saturday the 19th November party-goers sporting red neckerchiefs marched out of a hairdressing salon onto Toynbee Street, East London and began a circuit of the local area. Turning past a pub into a residential street and towards the orange glow of Sainsbury’s, the march paused to form a circle around a woman standing on a soapbox. ..

Svein Flygari Johansen: Am I making up what really happened?
Svein Flygari Johansen is a creature of the forest and fjord, spending the summer months high up inside the Arctic Circle, and is otherwise based in Oslo as a significant figure in the contemporary art community. Identification with nature is at the core of Flygari’s work, where imagery from the organic world connects with high technology. Until 12 February 2012. Review by Eleanor Shipman

Bodies Assembling
From today until the 11th December, there will be daily posts representing different perspectives from Bodies Assembling, a project produced through by Auto Italia in collaboration with the Women's film distributor; Cinenova. Through a series of screenings and workshops featuring moving image work selected by invited artists and activists, the project is engaging with Auto Italia and Cinenova both as organisations but also as active communities of artists. Bodies Assembling hopes to present a diverse set of relations between these communities and also with the practices and ideas that are represented by some of the films and videos distributed by Cinenova.

The Event 2011, Birmingham
The Event was the third bi-annual visual art festival in Birmingham which ran from the 21 – 30 October 2011. It took place in galleries, studio spaces and empty buildings in various locations in and around Eastside, Birmingham’s creative quarter in Digbeth. Video filmed and produced by Square Eye Media
