Jerwood Painting Fellowships

Jerwood Painting Fellowships are a new initiative from Jerwood Visual Arts designed to promote and support emerging artists in the field of painting. It follows the critically acclaimed Jerwood Contemporary Painters series, which came to an end earlier this year after a four year run, and previously the Jerwood Painting Prize. The three artists selected as the 2010/11 Jerwood Painting Fellowships are: Clare Mitten, Cara Nahaul and Corinna Till.

Nelson's large-scale sculptural installations immerse the viewer in an unfolding narrative which develops through a sequence of meticulously realised spatial structures. The weaving of fact and fiction are fundamental to Nelson’s practice, and his constructs are steeped in both literary and historic references, whilst drawing upon the geography and cultural context of their location.
