Julia Mariscal is interested in processes and creation of order in nature and the relationship they have with art. Her work is a process that deconstructs the narrative aesthetics of our own era and time. Creation and magic, lectures and interpretation are the constants of a practice where mythological symbolism and the narrative form of literature expresses art as rational order in an irrational world.
The two collage available are distinctive meditations on how imagery constructs our idea of history. By altering and reworking the images she locates them as historical objects with their own set of inherent rules. Her gestures start to decode these documents and translate them into their own aesthetic world. There is further information her work on her website here.
